The view from the Ponte Sisto looking north along the Tevere

The view looking north from the Ponte Sisto, the bridge closest to our apartment. It is named to honor Pope Sixtus IV, who laid the foundation stone of the bridge in 1475 by dropping gold coins from a boat in the river, and for whom the Sistine Chapel at St. Peter's is also named. In the distance is the dome of St. Peter's; to the right beyond the trees would be central Rome; to the left is my neighborhood, known as Trastevere ("Across the Tevere").
