I interpreted this assignment to demonstrate the way in which I am prevented from becoming a part of my new social setting; namely the language barrier.
Living with gli studenti americani, and going to the same sites, and working in the same classes and studios, leaves little time aside from shopping for food or buying pizza to learn about what is happening in the country and city where I live.
My desire to read, to gather information not only about my home I left behind but my new home for this quarter, is affected by my language difficulties, and I wanted in particular to transfer that frustration to those who do understand the language better than I.
I wanted not only to demonstrate the difficulties I have in being a habitual news reader dealing with a new language, but also wanted to take a newspaper commonly read by natives and make it as difficult for them as it is for me.
